Equipped with a USB4 V2 interface, the DotDisk supports bandwidth of up to 80Gbps when connected to a compatible Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 V2 device. Satechi’s internal testing recorded read and write performance above 5,900MB/s with selected hardware, although actual speeds depend on the installed SSD, host device, cable and system configuration.

The enclosure supports one M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSD with a storage capacity of up to 8TB, giving you the flexibility to select storage based on your performance and capacity requirements. It is suitable for large video projects, RAW photo libraries, system backups, games and other data-intensive files.

A built-in micro fan and vented aluminium body provide active cooling, helping reduce heat buildup and maintain stable performance during long file transfers, editing sessions and demanding workloads. The durable aluminium construction also works as a heat-dissipating surface while providing a clean, premium look for modern workspaces.

The DotDisk is optimized for Thunderbolt 5 and USB4 V2 but is also backward compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 systems. Transfer performance is limited by the maximum speed supported by the connected computer and installed SSD. The included Thunderbolt 5 cable should be used for the best available performance.

Its plug-and-play design works with compatible macOS, Windows and Linux systems without requiring additional drivers. A newly installed SSD must be formatted through Disk Utility on macOS or Disk Management on Windows before it can be used.
